Here is a drum solo i did in 2006. Performed using Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute drum kit. Snare drum is a Ludwig Supraphonic. I think it is an aluminium shell with chrome plating. Various Sabian cymbals were used on this clip.
I like to play jazz on the drums amongst many other styles. Here is a solo that i recorded in 2006. I wanted to show a solo using both brushes and drum sticks. Actually i have to correct that. The fact that i played stick at all in that solo was attributed to me dropping my brush in the middle of the solo(2:11). I played for a few seconds with one brush while i picked up some sticks to continue the solo. That was at the point where the video changed to colour. I think the transition from brushes to stick was not too bad even though it was a mistake of sorts.
My goal was to try and establish a melody of sorts with almost call and answer type phrasing. This one one of many solos that i performed on the day for a drumming demo dvd that i was making. I especially like the sound of my Ludwig supraphonic alloy shell snare drum. It is an old one that is all beat up but it sounds great.
